I am leaving this page up for historical purposes, but I do not keep my Screeching Weasel pages current anymore, so all there is here are the archives.

9/8/98: Well, well. Sure has been a long time since I put any news up. Sorry about that. Most of my extra time (where does all that stuff go anyway) has been devoted to keeping my MTX page recent. Anyway, I was recently asked to put this ad on my page:

3/5/97: The latest news is that the guys are working on a four-song EP for Vermiform Records. The tour obviously was cancelled and probably won't be revived. They have made the decision to re-release the Screeching Weasel LP and the Ramones LP, but exact plans have not been made yet. Unfortunately for those of us who not only prefer vinyl, but don't even have a CD player, the two LPs will be released together on CD.

1/14/97: Thanks to Mike for this information. I have posted his email to me regarding this subject.

Information coming from Mass Giorgini says that Screeching Weasel will not be touring. The Riverdales are recording their next record this week in Chicago w/Mass, and Ben does not want to do a tour. In an interview, he said a small East coast tour was possible, but according to Mass, who is Ben's closest friend, no tour will happen. Sorry if this is disappointing. I am disappointed, too. Talk to you later if I find out anything else.

1/2/97: There are rumors now that there will be a tour. According to Dan Panic, the only reason there wouldn't be one is if Lookout!'s lawsuit becomes a conflict. The tour is set to start the end of January with Squirtgun and Screw 32. The tour will cover some of the Midwest and the East coast. They may tour more later in the year if all goes well.

11/15/96: Just got it in the mail yesterday. I listened to part of it on my way to school today. I definitely like the music - more poppy like Anthem, rather than as Ramonesy as Wiggle! But I thought some of the lyrics sounded like cheese - the way they sang at parts and just the actual words. That's not to say that I don't cherish every minute or anything, but that was my initial impression. But hey, I've disliked many a Weasel song upon first listen, but I always grow to love them (or at least like them okay). Of course I have my favorites, and these may not make the list, but we'll see. I've only heard the first 5 songs or so, so....

11/7/96: As everyone knows by now, SW has come out with a new album, Bark Like a Dog, put out by Fat Wreck Chords, which hit the stands November 5th. I have not heard it yet. I'm waiting for my ordered copy to come in. Some of those who've heard it love it and some hate it, although most agree that it sounds a lot like Anthem. To me that's good news, but not to everyone.

I know a couple of people who are unnerved by the degredation of women displayed on the cover, but hey, it's not like I've thought they were perfect gentlemen all this time and am all of the sudden shocked by this horrific display of chauvanistic attitudes. All they're doing is being a lot less subtle than usual. Let's face it, they don't usually have the nicest things to say about the girls they pay tribute to. But then again, who wants to hear a song about someone who's got nothing wrong with them, is peachy keen, and has no problems. "Yeah, I know this girl, and she's nice, and funny, and smart, and never does anything to bother anyone. So I guess I don't really have much to say except that she's got it all together and everyone likes her." Not too funny is it? I don't really think they degrade women, but then again, I don't know them either. So maybe they do on their own time. However, I don't take the album cover too seriously, and it probably wasn't intended to be taken that way. I enjoy their music, I enjoy their lyrics, I find them funny and thought-provoking, and their personal lives are their business.

Enough rambling. If anyone knows the tour dates or has heard anything about a tour (I'm assuming/hoping/begging that there will be one), let me know.
